CodeHER Clubs

Community, Innovation & Creativity

CodeHER clubs are weekly coding clubs where girls learn 3D modeling, game design, mobile apps, website design, and code their own art pieces! These clubs serve as a fun and creative introduction to coding for girls in grades 3-8.

Our CodeHER Jr. clubs are for girls in grades 3-5 and all lessons use Scratch. Our regular CodeHER clubs are for girls in grades 6-8 and cover a variety of programming languages, including Scratch, JavaScript, Python, HTML/CSS and more! Both CodeHER Jr. and CodeHER Clubs have three levels, so girls can come back the following school year and advance in their coding experience.

Express Yourself

By adding the ART to Code, CodeHER clubs aim to have words like “creative” and “exciting” replace “boring” and “difficult” in the minds of girls when they think about coding.

Why Clubs Matter

Even though Women make up 57% — well over half – of all US undergraduates, only 18% — less than 1 in 5 – of US Computer Science grads are female.

CodeHER clubs aim to reverse this trend by creating spaces where girls are encouraged to be both creative and innovative.

As a parent, Code/Art has helped my daughter learn and understand more and more about coding and computer science. I'm extremely happy and grateful that my daughter is a part of Code/Art. The teachers are amazing and fun to work with.

“My daughter...was completely engaged in these classes. When she needed support, the instructors were available and ready to help her.... She loves this coding experience so much that I found her many times assigning herself new work to do outside of class time!”

- Marilyn E., CodeHER Club Parent

"My daughter really enjoys and looks forward to her CodeHer Club weekly meet-ups. She really enjoys meeting like-minded girls who also enjoy gaming and coding and they get along great while learning new coding techniques. If I could give them 10 stars, I would!"

- Jessyca P., CodeHER Club Parent

“Este curso que mi hija hizo le ayudo mucho. Mi familia y yo quedamos sorprendido de lo que las niñas lograron e hicieron para su presentación de fin de curso. Les ayudas desarrollar su creatividad, las reta a crear y desarrollar su imaginación. Code/Art es un curso que a mi hija le gusta y estoy agradecido que pudo ser parte de ello.”

- Edy E., CodeHER Club Parent

“Code/Art turns that important first step with coding into an exciting and inspiring experience. Seeing my daughter’s excitement as she shows me her art gives me confidence that Code/Art is opening doors and transforming lives!”
